no, annular does not mean it happens every year, it means that it looks like
a ring, although you have to be situated directly in the path to see an
entire circular ring

the eclipse is well underway, but the sun is too low on the horizon, here
in toronto, for me to see anything

those of you in the western half of the north american continent should go
outside and have a look

those of you in hawaii -- i'm talkin to you, cowboy -- will see something
really spectacular

remember NEVER to look directly at the sun, even in an eclipse, for more
than a half second -- and if you cannot estimate how long a half second is,
it's too long
